Get Yourself A Broadband Connection
Tired of your unreliable dial-up connection? Do you what high-speed Internet access? Then you should avail of either a DSL or a Cable Internet connection. These two are the most common examples of a broadband connection, although Satellite Internet access Wireless connections are becoming quite popular nowadays, too.
DSL connections, sometimes termed as ADSL, means as Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line. It uses an existing telephone line in order to provide broadband Internet access to customers. DSL connections need modems to successfully separate voice and data passing through the same phone line. Incidentally, only a fraction of which is needed by voice calls. The rest can be used for Internet data transmission. This is why high-speed Internet access is possible.
Cable Internet connection is somehow different but works similarly. Instead of passing through telephone lines, data goes though fiber optic cables , the same ones used by television cable lines to transmit television signals and programs. And just like DSL, you are going to need a special modem to connect to your provider’s server.
On the other hand, Satellite Internet connection is quite popular in rural areas. In the areas that both DSL and Cable lines can’t reach, Satellite Internet takes advantage. This type of Internet connection is wide spanning. And as the name suggests, the service providers utilizes satellite technology to effectively transmit data to customers. By that, it means that every subscriber needs to install a satellite dish over the roof or in the backyard to receive the signal. Aside from that, a modem had to be used too. Satellite Internet works fairly well, but upload speeds can sometimes be slow.
Wireless Internet connection is the “in” thing today. If you want this type of broadband connection, then all you really needed is a wireless card. It works like a satellite connection where data is transmitted over the air. This is best for people who are always on the go and needs Internet access wherever they are. One disadvantage though is that you should be within the range of your provider’s network before the connection works. And right now, not all areas are covered yet. But those places with high foot traffic such as airports and malls usually have the necessary access points and infrastructure installed.
So, are you ready to get yourself a broadband connection? Now that you have all the options before you, enjoying the right broadband that fits your lifestyle should be easy!
