Mother’s Day

Mother’s DayA festival which has a uniqueness attached to it, a day from which love, care and adulation can never be separated, a day of crayon written I LOVE YOUs and a day to commemorate her sacrifice, her friendship and her devotion is MOTHER’S DAY.

Celebrated all over the world irrespective of language, religion, region or geographical boundaries, it is a perfect day to show your mother that if there is something on this Earth which means life to you, that’s your MOTHER. The feeling and passion behind the celebration of this day remains unchanged at all places where exists life.

Based on the suggestions of Julia Ward Howe in 1872 and Anna Jarvis in 1907, the day was first observed in Philadelphia and is celebrated every year since then on the second Sunday of the month of MAY. The history shows that in the 1600s a special day in the honor of mothers known as mothering Sunday was observed in England annually. It is believed that all those who lived with their masters were left on this day to meet their mothers and they used to take home cakes and gifts for her on this special occasion.

The way of celebrating this day doesn’t change with states but with every family doing something different on this day. In some families mothers are given an off from household work and the rest of the family members do the household chores. Some of the families would let mom sleep late and prepare the breakfast whereas some would prepare everything from lunch to dinner for her. Most importantly on this day children through hand made cards and gifts show their mothers how important she is to them and how incomplete they would be without her.

The bible says…………….

  • Gen 3:20 Adam named his wife Eve, because she would become the mother of all the living.
  • Exo 20:12 "Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the LORD your God is giving you.
  • Lev 19:3 "'Each of you must respect his mother and father, and you must observe my Sabbaths. I am the LORD your God.
  • Deu 5:16 "Honor your father and your mother, as the LORD your God has commanded you, so that you may live long and that it may go well with you in the land the LORD your God is giving you.
