Hyundai Terracan Reviews
The Hyundai Terracan is the part of the three most efficient modern diesel engine driven cars produced by Hyundai. It is powered by the 2.9 common rail turbo diesel engines. It is the second four wheeled drive vehicle that is offered by Hyundai in the UK following the Santa Fe. The body on frame construction of the Hyundai terracan is made to make it useful for off road purposes. It is offered along with a 5 year unlimited mileage warranty.
The Hyundai terracan is marketed as the king of the land as its name is derived from the derivatives of terra meaning land and khan meaning king. It is driven by a CRTD engine of 2.9 liters and is capable of producing 160 bhp at 3800 rpm. and has 254 lbs of torque at 2000 rpm. It is capable of accelerating from zero to 60 in a matter of 13 seconds and can reach a top speed of 104 mph.
The fuel mileage stands upto 32.4 mpg which is also approximately what is quoted by the manufacturers. This is rated to be quite good for a SuV type of vehicle. This vehicle features the part time four wheel drive system that is known as the electrical shift transfer which hast he ability to shift between high ratio four wheel drive and two wheel drive while moving at the speed of about 50mph.The low ratio of four wheel drive setting is also provided that can be used when the off road conditions are more demanding or when more amount of traction is necessary.
The terrace being a 4X4 vehicle still manages to be quite lively. It can reach 0 to 60 in a matter of 13 seconds. Also the engine is not noisy and the gear box is easy and smooth to use. The terracan, even not being something that is the state of the art cannot be cast aside .The body roll is minimized and the power assisted steering is well complimented. Under bad weather condition, the two wheel drive generally develops a tendency to spin. This is greatly reduced by the 4 wheel drive. There is an absence of traction control or the Esp but the terracan is provided with a limited slip differential which is capable of varying the amount of torque between the wheels if by chance one of the wheels loose grip.
In the Hyundai terracan, the four wheel drive naturally handles better than the two wheel drive but the obvious fact of wear and tear on the wheels is more. Also fuel consumption is much higher.
