Karnataka as a state came into existence in the year 1973 with the inclusion of districts from other presidencies like, Hyderabad, Bombay and Madras. It is the eighth largest Indian State in terms of area.

Bangalore is the administrative capital of Karnataka. Bangalore is a sprawling metropolis with a population of more than 6 million. It is often referred to as the Silicon Valley of India, the IT capital of India, and Pensioners Paradise etc. Bangalore is one of the most preferred tourist destinations because of its temperate climate and enchanting tourist attractions. The High Court of Karnataka and Vidhan Soudha are two of the major tourist attractions situated in the heart of the city. Mysore was the capital of the erstwhile Mysore State. Kannada is spoken by the majority of the people of Karnataka. Other predominant languages spoken in the State include Urdu, Telugu, Hindi, and English. Karnataka tourism has a lot to offer to the world and Karnataka government should cash in on this tourism potential. Karnataka is one of the most preferred destinations for education in India. Karnataka offers the tourists a lot of options to choose from. It has places of historic importance such as Srirangapatna, Hampi, Badami etc. Hampi is a World Heritage Site and it was the ancient capital of the Vijaynagar Empire.  Srirangapatna was the capital of the great Tipu Sultan, the ruler of Mysore, who was called “the Mysore Tiger”. Adventure lovers too have many destinations to visit while in Karnataka. Dandeli is an ideal destination for river rafting. Nature lovers can visit game sanctuaries such as Nagarhole, Ranganaithittu Bird Sanctuary, Bannerghatta National Park etc.
