Digital and Photography
The world as we know it has advanced rapidly into digitalisation. Everything that we work with, play with or even communicate with has been digitised and an “e” has been added before it, meaning “electronic”. In this age, even photography has become digitalised, with a vast number of digital cameras being used to shoot amazingly clear and stunningly beautiful images of the world. These cameras use digital and photography techniques to produce unbelievable images on the computer and on print itself. The market is filled with many other software and tools that help in editing such photographs produced by digital cameras and provide an unfathomable amount of digital clarity.
Yet, we also live in the conflicting world of past meets present. The older cameras that provided pictures on film rolls and negatives are still used for their vast storage capacity – reputably being 24 Mega-pixels in size. Again, the world of digital and photography techniques merge when it comes to large sized prints and hence digital techniques to enhance photography are widely in use. These techniques help in retouching, reducing effective exposure, enhancing highlights or shadows, removing noise and as such produce finer pictures than ever. Film cameras, thought to be obsolete, still find use as a cheap alternative to digital cameras but providing the same amount of brilliance when properly treated with digital and photography methods.
These methods of treating old pictures, or newer ones have found use in the wide arena of this world. In many countries and regions, the political use of retouching and deleting some parts of the photograph for political correctness has spawned its own business with the right sort of people. In olden times these enhancers used physical tools such as scissors and chemicals to get rid of unwanted faces and gestures from a photograph. But digital techniques found later were far better and efficient to use than clumsy work. These processes ignited the digital and photography business to a smarter and more efficient vocation.
More recent uses are found in the realm of journalism. Digital and photographic manipulations have been used far and wide in this job with many controversial cases of photo manipulations being done on public figures so as to misguide the general public on their current standing. Being quite the opposite of politically correct photography, these methods have only invited trouble for their users. Yet many reputed magazines and newspapers still use this method to generate money off their writings.
