The RIZR has better keys that are easier to hit by feel and is definitely more appealing than any other similar mobile phones. The slide opens smoothly with a sharp click. Motorola has wisely provided a grip beneath the screen to open it as if in a breeze, but the screen retains fingerprints and cheek impressions. The phone looks sleek in a rich, soft-touch blue paint job.
Its keys are fit firmly in the RAZR family of keypad design. There is an indentation and ridge around them, which makes blind typing slightly easier. We could do without very hard presses especially on this EDGE-only phone. The interface is pure Motorola.
The soft touch finish and the healthy snap of the slide is simply great.
The RIZR makes calls that sound better than most phones in its class. The microphone is placed on the lower slide. This gives the feeling that voices are very clean and clear. Reception is very good and perfect. The phone has all of the features we like, including Bluetooth and speaker-independent voice dialing. Conference calling with some menu drilling support is also available. The speakerphone has an accurate sound, not tinny like so many other small speakers. For alerts, the phone has some polyphonic built in and also you can use your own MP3 and AAC tracks as ring tones. In this mobile we feel that the calls are so good sounding.
The phone has nice and simple messaging options. We can get instant messaging from AOL, Yahoo, MSN, and even ICQ, which is a rare find these days. Hundred or so characters fit on the screen at a time, which is so convenient The keypad is aesthetically improved for easier typing than on many etched keypads. Sending pictures and multimedia is so simple, and the phone jumps right to the contact list when sending a message. The idea of a preset signature for outgoing messages is neat and clear without any complications.
Also we can have direct access to the contact list without much pondering. The battery if this mobile is unexpectedly good. We can get got more than five and a half hours of talk time in a single call. The RIZR comes packaged with a mono hands free headset, which fits the mini-USB port on the phone, and a 128MB microSD card, which fits into a slot behind the battery cover .Photos and music, can be stored easily in the built-in music players. There is a Java based player, and a separate "Sounds" player. Strangely, the Sounds player has a Bluetooth headset option, while the Java player uses whatever headphones you were already wearing. Thus we can say that the mobile has admirable battery life, better than promised.
