Aaliyah Dana Haughton Biography

Born on January 16, 1979, at Huntington, New York, USA , Aaliyah Dana Haughton gave us a very large number of good albums like Age Ain't Nothing But A Number (1994) and many others. She was a singer by profession but acting was her passion. She was born in Bedford Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, New York. She credited all her success to her uncle Mr. Barry Hankerson who had a management company and introduced her to her debut album named Age Ain't Nothing But A Number.

She was also known as Liyah, Baby Gyrl, Wonder Woman, Lee, etc. among her friends and her near and dear ones. Aaliyah completed her graduation from Detroit High School of the Performing Arts and obtained 4.0 in her GPA. Loved by her mother Diane Haughton, father Michael Haughton and brother Rashad Aaliyah was the favorite of all. Some of her favourite foods were veggies, cheese, chocolate, etc. and among her favourite clothings were included her brother’s baggy jeans. She married R. Kelly, a famous musician, in 1994 at the age of 15 but the marriage was cancelled on the grounds of her being a minor. Her first step to fame was landed upon by her when she came forward with her single named “Back and Forth”. Her yet another venture, named, “At Your Best (You Are Love) filled the hearts of her listeners with a strong feeling of sensuousness. According to her those men were sexy who were experts in martial arts and could fight. She wore contact lenses. She had a orangutan and a pillow named Wilson.

Her death was a very unnatural one. She died in a plane crash in August 25th, 2001, in Marsh Harbour, Abaco Island, Bahamas. Thus we lost a good hearted singer.
