Barbera Carrera
Barbera Carrera is a known for her stunning Nicaraguan looks and her sinister characters films roles. She moved to New York at the age of 16, when she took up modeling assignments. Her good looks got her some interesting modeling contracts and she was soon seen as the South American face of Chiquita bananas. Within a short span, she found herself coming to Hollywood for roles. Her photographs were put up in Vogue magazine.
In the initial stages of her career she took on minor roles, which brought out her beauty as seen in the film ‘The Master Gunfighter’ (1975), ‘Embryo’ (1976) and ‘The Island of Dr. Moreau’ (1977). She was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for her role in ‘The Master Gunfighter’. After this came a couple of movies in which she took on negative characters. Fame finally came to her in a big way with her role in the James Bind Flick in ‘Never Say Never Again’ in 1983, starring Sean Connery. She got a Golden Globe Award nomination for this movie.
It was not just in movies that this talented actress made her mark she got into television as well. She took on role in T.V series such as ‘Centennial’, ‘Dallas’ ‘Emma, Queen of the South Seas’, ‘That 70's Show’, and ‘Judging Amy’.
She is also known for her artwork. Her works have been showcased in the 1980’s at Makk Galleries in Beverly Hills in California, and also at the Roy Miles Gallery in London, England. Her works were also displayed in the Hollywood Entertainment Museum in 2002.
