Ben Affleck is a top U.S actor, who has been nominated for a Golden Globe award. He has also taken to film direction and screen play. He won a Golden Globe award for his screenwriting.

Ben Affleck took to acting from childhood, appearing in the PBS kids' series ‘The Voyage of the Mimi’. He has appeared in several television movies. Notable roles during the 1991’s were ‘LifeStories: Families in Crisis’, ‘School Ties’, ‘Dazed and Confused’, and ‘Mallrats’. His true time for glory came with ‘Good Will Hunting’ (1997). He and his best-friend Matt Damon received the Oscar award for this in the category of Best Original Screenplay.

Here on, the star went on to start his own production company LivePlanet, with Matt Damon, Chris Moore and Sean Bailey. Their first venture - a documentary series entitled Project ‘Greenlight’ received an Emmy award nomination for Outstanding Reality Program three times - 2002, 2004 and 2005.

In 2006, came a stunning performance in the movie ‘Hollywoodland’, which was directed by none other than TV-series veteran Allen Coulter. It received critical acclaim, and Ben Affleck went on to receive many awards for this film. He received the Volpi Cup for Best Actor for this film at the Venice Film Festival, and Supporting Actor of the Year award in the Hollywood Film Festival. He was also nominated for a Golden Globe award in the category of Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture for Hollywoodland.

He married his daredevil film co-star Jennifer Garner, and the couple have a daughter named Violet Anne Affleck, born in December 2005.
