10 Steps to a Successful Interview

In recent days, the job interviews are getting more critical and sophisticated. In fact, it is not possible to predict what may come in focus or what may not, but this article tries to provide you a general overview that you can follow to make your interview a successful one.

1. Prepare and over prepare

While facing an interview, preparation probably has no other alternative. Preparation and over preparation are the simple keys to open the door of interview board successfully.

2. Be confident about your desire and achievement

You should pay enough attention towards your own goal and while discussing it with the interviewer, you should be careful that you are stating the fact that have mentioned in your resume.

3. Make certain that responses go with the claims

Your response must be aligned with your claims. Say, for example, you have taken coursework for qualifying in a particular position; you should mention the skills, however, not directly but in a subtle manner.

4. Be confident about your strengths

There is 100% probability that you have to face questions concerning your strengths and weaknesses. Be confident while discussing about your strengths.

5. Be honest with your weaknesses

Many people do not like to share their weaknesses. This is not a very good idea. Rather share it in confidence.

6. If you have been fired from previous job, tell straight

If you have bitter experience of getting fired from the last job, you should tell them straight. But do not use any ‘charge’ against the previous employer. It doesn’t look very professional and brings negative impact.

7. Be clear about your prospect

Many interviewers may ask you that “where you would like to see you in next 5-10 years?” Considering the current economy it is always better that you should be practical, rational but optimistic at the time of providing answer.

Many modern organizations are looking for professionals who know and understand the balance between personal and professional standards.
9. Ask questions to the interviewer

When the interviewer asks you whether you have any query for him, don’t hesitate, ask questions. But be relevant while asking.

10. Don’t make yourself to be pestered with the salary issue

Always know the range of compensation of the job you have applied for and deal the game.
