ECDL Sample Questions
This is the test for world’s leading end-user computer skills certification programme. This is known as the international computer driving licence outside Europe.
The syllabus is planned to deal with the key concepts of computing and its practical applications. It also covers the use of computers in the workplace and society.
The examination consists of seven modules and a pass in each module is necessary to get the certificate.
The seven modules of the ECDL are:
1. Basic concepts of IT
2. Using the computer and managing files
3. Word processing
4. Spreadsheets
5. Database
6. Presentation
7. Information and Communication
Sample Questions:
1. Explain the difference between RAM and ROM.
2. Explain the advantages of using e-mail
3. Explain the term World Wide Web
4. Open the word processing application.
i. Open the document test31 from your Candidate Disk. The document is an unedited version of the circular.
ii. Save the document to your Candidate Disk using the file name agm
iii. Select all the text in the document and change the font in the document to Arial.
iv. Centre align the word Agenda.
v. Apply bullets of your choice to the Agenda items (text starting with Election and finishing with New Club House Proposals.)
vi. Change the font colour of Agenda to Blue.
vii. Change the font size in the entire document to 14-point.
viii. Save the document and print 2 copies to an output printer if available, or as a print file to your Candidate Disk.
Mail Merge: Use the file agm as a form letter.
Open the file addrlst from your Candidate Disk. It contains an address list that is going to be used as a data source and merged with the agm form letter.
Enter three merge fields into the agm document: Substitute the three text lines
Open the database application.
You will design the table/file with 3 fields using the appropriate data types, distinguishing between text, numeric, date, etc., and with appropriate field sizes.
The following fields must be created:
i. Song Title
ii. Price
iii. Release Date
iv. Save the table as music
v. Enter a complete record in your new database.
vi. Create a simple form to input data into your music table.Save the form as form1.
vii. Save the Database
