TOEFL Sample Questions

TOFEL stands for Test of English as a Foreign Language and is used to assess the ability of a students’ understanding of the Standard American English at college level. This test is conducted for non native students.

The test is used to gauge the skills of the student in Reading, Listening, Speaking and Writing English.

In Reading test you will have 3 passages and 39 questions for which you get 60 minutes.
Listening skill consists of 6 passages and 34 questions with 50 minutes time.
Speaking skill is tested with 6 tasks and 6 questions with 20 minutes time
Writing skill is for 55 minutes with 2 tasks and 2 questions.

The duration of validity of your TOEFL score is two years. This means that for two years your score will be on the official database after which it will be deleted.

The minimum score that you need, will depend on the university for which you are seeking admission. The requirements normally range from 133 to 250 for computer based test and from 450 to 600 for paper based test.

A person taking the TOEFL test will have to spend $130 USD. Payment can be made with credit card or check.
