AdvertisementBorn on June 10, 1953, Johnny Reid “John” Edwards is presently a candidate for the Democratic nomination for the Presidential Election in 2008. John is a one-term U.S. Senator from North Carolina. John is an American politician who was the nominee for position of the Vice President in 2004. Presently, he is a candidate for the Presidential election in 2008. Defeating Lauch Faircloth in the Senate Election 1998, he sought nomination for the president in the presidential election of 2004. Eventually he showed up as the candidate for the Vice President’s Elections and the running mate of John Kerry, the Senator at Massachusetts.
John Edwards was appointed as the Director, of the Centre on Work, Poverty and Opportunity, after he and Edwards lost to George W Bush and Dick Cheney. He also began working at the One America Committee, which is a Committee for Political Action in 2001. He also works as a Consultant for an Investment Group.
Edwards was born in the year 1953, on the 10th day of June to Catharine Juanita and Wallace Reid Edwards. His birthplace is in South Carolina in Seneca. The family had to move several times and finally settled in North Carolina in Robbins. His father worked in a textile mill as a supervisor while his mother ran a roadside finishing business in Antiques and then worked at a postal letter deliverer when his father left his job.
Edwards was the first one in the family to enter College. He had been a football star in school. He went to Clemson University and then to the State University at North Carolina. He graduated with a high honors degree and then earned a law degree with Honors. John Edwards along with his friend, John Auchard, published Four Trials, a biographical book that speaks about his career in law. The success of the case and the death of his son, made John give up his legal profession and take up public office. Edwards along with his wife, work for the Wade Edwards Foundation, in memory of their son Wade who was killed in an accident.
