Mike Huckabee the former Governor of Arkansas state of the U.S. His tenure was from 1996 to 2007. He has announced himself as a candidate for the United States Presidential Election in 2008.

Mike Huckabee is a public speaker, a Baptist Minister of the South a bass guitar player and the author of several books advocates a happy life style. He lives with his wife Janet and three grown up children, Sarah, David and John Mark.

Huckabee was born to Mae Elder and Dorsey W. Huckabee in Arkansas. His father was a fireman while his mother was a clerk at a gas company. In 1972, he was elected the Governor of Arkansas and he was the President of Hope High School. Mike graduated from the Ouachita Baptist University. He studied Religion and has two doctoral degrees, from John Brown University in 1991. He is a Doctor at Law from Ouachita Baptist University in 1992. While he was serving as the Governor, the welfare rolls declined by almost half and the economy grew by 4.4 per cent.

According to the Time Magazine, he was one of the five great Governors in the U.S as Huckabee had approached the state’s problems with innovation and energy. He was however accused by the Club for Growth who said Huckabee had increased state expenses by 65.3%. During his tenure, taxes were cut and there was a decrease of $378 million while taxes rise amounted to $883 millions. Huckabee got an F from the Cato Institute for tax policy and spending in 2006. Although in 2007, the state had a surplus of almost 850 million dollars, yet, the state’s obligation debt was raised to around $1 billion. He says that his state enjoyed a surplus of nearly $850 million. However, during his tenure, the state’s general obligation debt increased by almost $1 billion.

According to Judicial Watch, the conservative organization announced that Mike’s name was included in the list of the ten most corrupt and wanted politicians in 2007. Huckabee had enjoyed a stupendous rise in 2007, in the month of December and according to the Associated Press, his career is also checkered by a plethora of questions on his integrity, starting from the managing of campaign cash and to subsidize the crashing of computer files. What did Huckabee respond to the allegations? Instead of cooperation, Huckabee sued the ethics commission and wanted a shut down of the ethics process.
