Zinta was featured in several commercials such as Liril, Cadburys etc. Technically her first movie was Kundan Shah’s “Kya Kehna”. However, the release of the film got postponed and Mani Ratnam’s, “Dil Se” happened to be her first movie. Though her role in the movie last just as long as twenty minutes, she won the Filmfare Best Debut Award. Her second movie was “Soldier”, which was a hit. In the year 2000, her first film “Kya Kehna” was released. She played the role of a teenage mother in this movie and this movie brought her many accolades. She received many nominations for the Best Actress category for this movie. Zinta has also starred in some Telugu movies.
Her performances in the movies “Mission Kashmir”, “Dil Chahta Hai”, established her as a top actress in the industry. Her role in the film “Dil Hai Tumara”, was recognized by many people and she became the most sought after heroine in the industry.
Her other movies such as “Koi Mil Gaya”, “Kal Ho Na Ho”, were her subsequent hits. She even received the Filmfare Best Actress award for her role in “Kal Ho Na Ho”. Her other movies include, “Lakshya”, “Veer Zaara”, “Khullam Khulla Pyar Karen”, “Salaam Namaste” and “Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna”.
Zinta has a degree in criminal psychology. She lost her father in an accident when she was just 13. She has been dating the heir of Bombay Dyeing, Ness Wadia.
