AdvertisementRashtrapati Bhavan is an authorized residence of the President of India, situated in Delhi. Until 1950, this was called as ‘Viceroy’s House’ and offered as the house of the Governor-General of India. This is at the center of region called as Lutyens’ Delhi. The main entrance to this building is called as Gate 35 and is situated on Prakash Vir Shastri road, renamed from North Avenue in November 2002, as a monument to the officer of the namesake who give out here during his residence as a Member of Parliament for the Uttar Pradesh.
Different Indian designs were inserted to the Rashtrapati Bhawan. This contained some circular stone basins on the crown of the fort, because water features are a significant part of Indian structural design. There is also a classical Indian Chhajja or Chujja that got the place of a wall painting in traditional architecture, it was a thin, sharp, projecting element that completed eight feet from the construction and made deep shadows.
There were also fountain statues of cobras and sculptures of elephants in the gardens. There were grilles manufactured by using red sandstone, known jaalis or jails. There is a large rose garden in this building shows different kinds of roses and is open to public in the month of February annually.
