This will help your prospective employer to find out how you can fit into the job rather than telling him where and when you have worked.
The following is the format for a functional resume:
* Objective
* Achievements
* Potentialities
* Occupation
* Education
Normally functional format of resumes are not commonly used and they are difficult to create. The functional form of resume is more useful where an individual wants to change his career. The functional format of resume is founded more on skill growth. The format is non-linear and the stress is on growth and accomplishments. You can specify a list of your experiences in this format of resume.
The Chronological Format Resume:
The chronological Format resume tells in detail about all your jobs which you would have done till that period. They should be listed in a chronological order. The chronological format of resume contains:
* Objective
* Summary
* Experience
* Qualification
The main intention of a chronological resume is that it gives all the jobs you had taken up, in detail, in chronological order. This format is effectual when your vocation has continued in a firm, straight-line advancement. That is, if you have systematically proceeded to a better and better job, with no substantial periods of unemployment.
Also this format of resume is not fit for every one. For example if you have had a break in your career say disability or raising children etc., then your resume is likely to point out this gap.
Chronological resume format permits you to number your job experiences beginning with the recent one and then stating the first one. This lets employers to see your advancement in the career field.
The Type to Use
The type of resume you want to submit depends on the type of job for which you are applying. Most of the employers prefer the functional format as they are more used to it. It is advisable to create both the type of resume formats and use it according to the situation.
