Resume Objective Samples

The resume objective is the most crucial part of a resume. This is the first part of the resume that the employer lays his eyes upon hence it must be captivating and engaging. Keep in mind that a resume is only scanned for a few seconds. In this limited time your resume objective should be able to sell them a value and engage them into further reading your resume.

Generally we find that most resume objectives are written according to the job seeker’s desires. For example: A marketing position where I can use my skills and creativity with chances to grow. Such a resume objective does nothing for your employer as it focuses only on what you are looking for not what you can do for your employer.

The basic question that we need to keep in mind when writing a resume objective is from the part of the employer, he will be asking “What can you do for my company” not “What do you want my company to do for you?”. You need to make sure your resume stands out due to your objective in a pile of hundreds of others. If your resume states the same lame objective of what you are looking for just like the bulk of the others then your chances of being seriously considered for the post are slim.

The focus of your resume objective should be to make the employer feel as though this is the guy he has been looking for. Basically you have to intrigue the employer into reading the rest of your resume by captivating him with your objective.

Stating an objective also tells the employer that you have a direction in mind and know what you are looking for. Although stating an objective in the resume is optional but it is highly advised. This will help you to clarify your employment goal.

You must customize a resume objective to meet the objective of the position for which you will be applying. It is important to be specific without being too pale. On the other hand it is important to sound formal and not become too casual either.

Your resume objective can be as simple as:
